The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s annual national convention will rock like never before as Elk Camp 2013 expands to feature four incredible entertainment acts over its four-day run. The Charlie Daniels Band, Ronnie Dunn, Daryle Singletary and Josh Thompson will all hit the stage in Las Vegas Feb. 27 through March 2.
“This is one of our most exciting Elk Camp lineups ever,” said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO. “Not only are these performers among the best at what they do, but they have an appreciation for RMEF and its mission to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage.”
Charlie Daniels began performing more than 50 years ago. Best known for the enduring smash hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” Daniels released more than 30 albums, won Grammy, County Music Association (CMA) and other awards, and was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. Daniels and his band perform Friday, March 1.
“I used to say ‘I’m not an outlaw, I’m an outcast.’ When it gets right down to the nitty gritty, I’ve just tried to be who I am,” said Daniels. “The right to hunt and enjoy the great outdoors is part of our American heritage and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is helping to preserve it for our future generations.”
Ronnie Dunn is best known as half of Brooks & Dunn, the most successful duo in country music history, which produced more than 30 albums and played before sold-out arenas and stadiums across America. They racked up multiple Grammy, CMA and other awards. Among their countless hits are “Only in America” and “Rock My World.” Dunn returned to work as a solo artist in 2011. His self-titled album, Ronnie Dunn, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums. Dunn will hit the stage Saturday, March 2.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for the work done by the RMEF. Whether you’re a hunter or not, conservation efforts are vital to maintaining abundant wildlife and their habitat,” said Dunn. “Vegas is going to be good time and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
Daryle Singletary and Josh Thompson have their own styles and successes to showcase. Singletary worked his way up from open-mic nights in Nashville to release seven albums and multiple top 40 hits since 1995. Thompson is a musical road warrior of sorts, having played nearly 250 shows in 2010 alone. His debut album produced three top 40 hits. Singletary kicks things off at the new Welcome Reception on Wednesday, Feb. 27, while Thompson performs Thursday, Feb. 28.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the 2013 Elk Camp because it combines two of my favorite things, music and the outdoors,” said Thompson.
Elk Camp 2013 musical performances will take place at the Mirage. The largest Elk Camp exhibit hall and expo yet, with 350 companies in more than 600 booths, will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center. MidwayUSA is the official sponsor of Elk Camp 2013.
